Photos – Meade LX50 – 3.3 Focal Reducer

July 7, 2022 Update
These are “classic” images that I took early in my early exploration of astrophotography.  I was very proud of these images at the time but I have improved considerably since the 2005 to 2009 time period.

These photographs were taken with a 3.3 focal reducer which basically increases the field of view of the CCD camera and allows longer exposures to be taken. The focal reducer is a lens assembly attached to the telescope in front of the CCD camera.  All of these photos were processed from many exposures taken over  hours of observing time.
